Rotring pencils have been manufactured by germans since 1928. There is no doubt in my mind that the nazis used them. AND MY MOM LET ME GET THEM!!!! Maybe My dream of owning a VW Bug isnt too far off.

A little context: My mom wont let me get a german car because in her mind all german products deserve to be boycotted because of Hitler. So you can imagine my astonishment when she let me get those Rotring Pencils

I come from Jewish descent and most of my family drive either Mercedes-Benz or BMW's. I had a teacher which worked at the same school as my mother who held similar views to your mother regarding german things. She'd sneer whenever she saw my mother pull into the parking lot in a Passat. It was hilarious actually.

I bought a couple of Rotring 600's for my tool box of drawing gear ( I'm an industrial designer)

in the end they get little use because they are heavy, OVER ENGINEERED, generally uncomfortable, and the moment one goes over the edge of my table i CRINGE because Mech pencils always land on their pointy ends and bend the tip barrel.

They are the Tiger tanks of pencils.

I have relatives who are the same. They like the cool eagles and skulls and cool guns and tanks but its hard for me to appreciate something associated with evil. I had a college course I think some kind of ethics course and there was a discussion about whether the swatzika should no longer mean anything that time is passed it was evil everyone agrees and either its time for those things to die or become meaningless I haven't quite made up my mind on the swatzika and stuff but I think its dumb men cant wear a chaplin esque mustache because super douche evil guy wore one.
